Youth Transit Moves Forward!

Youth from YEJA in the state Capitol stand holding sings to show support for Youth Transit. On April 12th, 2017 the Oregon House Committee on Education passed HB 2693 which establishes a grant program under the Department of Education, that would award funds to school districts a percentage of student transportation costs that are not currently reimbursed through the State School Fund.

We want to thank our partner organizations and most importantly  our youth who came to testify on behalf of these bill knowing that some of our biggest advocates would age out before being able to use this important resource. A big thank you to Youth Environmental Justice Alliance (YEJA), Latinos Unidos Siempre (LUS), Multnomah Youth Commission, TURNO- Talento Universitario Regresando a Nuestros Orígenes ( University Talent Returning to Our Roots), Youth M.O.V.E Oregon and everyone else who supports this bill.

THANK YOU!
